About the Program

What is College Knowledge?

Are you a senior who is worried about college or needs help with the college application process? We’re here for you. Every week we host weekly meetings where we’ll help you through every step of the college application and financial aid process. We will also pair you up with a friend or peer so you can give feedback on each other’s essays and hold each other accountable. Additionally, our Student Leaders will be there for you to answer any of your questions and support you throughout the semester!

Main features of our program:

• Weekly meetings where we will help you apply to colleges and financial aid.

• System of accountability: We’ll help you submit all your apps on time!

• Get help and advice from our amazing network of current college students and grads.

Who are Empowered Leaders?

Hey 10th and 11th graders! Do you want to help us run our club and gain valuable leadership experience? Our Empowered Leaders program is for you! As a Student Leader you will help us run the College Knowledge program for seniors, help organize college-readiness events for VNHS students, and in the process gain in-depth knowledge of every aspect of the college application process. Other benefits include:

• Gain volunteering hours.

• Receive a recommendation letter from the First Gen Empowerment staff if you complete the entire program.

• Looks great on college apps!

• Opportunity to become board members in your senior year.
