Part of our goal at First Gen Empower is to provide meaningful opportunities for current college students, recent college graduates, and professionals passionate about education equity to get involved and gain valuable skills.

Frequently asked questions
Is the internship online? ▾
Yes, the entire internship will be remote. All team meetings and programming will take place over Zoom (or phone call, if that works better).
Can I apply to multiple positions? ▾
Yes, you can apply to as many positions as you want. If you are selected for an interview, we can then discuss which position which will suit you best.
Is there an interview component? ▾
Yes. We will carefully review every application and invite applicants for interviews.
Who can apply and what are we looking for in a team member? ▾
We are looking for current college students or young professionals who are passionate about serving first-generation, immigrant, undocument, and low-income students. Our positions are open to all college grads/students, regardless of their immigration status! Unfortunately, we are not looking for high schoolers, but if you're a high schooler and is eager to get involved, contact us!
Because FGE is currently in its early stages of development, we encourage our leaders to pursue projects that could further enhance FGE's mission. We seek self-motivated individuals who can commit to the full duration of their internship.
What is the time commitment and duration of the internship? ▾
We expect our team members to commit around 5 to 8 hours per week towards their responsibilities. We try to have our internships coorespond to academic terms. We would, of course, love if you stayed on longer!
Will I be working with a team or on my own? ▾
A little bit of both. All of our programming (and this website) are the efforts of a highly collaborative team of college graduates and high school students (you can learn more about our team here).
As an intern, you will join weekly team meetings, collaborate with the content creation team to execute projects, and also work on your own to ensure our programming is running smoothly. You will also have opportunities to network and chat with our current amazing and talented team.
Is this a paid internship? ▾
The internship pays a monthly stipend. Our fundraising team is working tirelessly to ensure all members can be paid fairly!
